Straddle buses – the answer to our traffic woes?

We hate traffic, and for crying out loud, there’s got to be something we can do about it. Right? But it turns out, China seems to be the only country that is taking traffic woes seriously. The answer? A straddle bus.
The idea is simple. Traffic takes up road space, so the best way to combat it is to find a vehicle that does not take up road space.

A company in China sought to address the problem by developing a bus that simply straddles the road instead of actually using the road, giving smaller vehicles to pass easily under. The bus that looks like a half-complete version of a metro is solar-powered and is meant to relieve peak traffic especially along main routes. With every city in the world trying to come to terms with rising pollution levels, an increasing population and the need for space, we cannot help but ask – Is this the way forward?
The creators of the straddle bus claim that the bus could reduce traffic jams by 25-30%. Well, we can only wait and watch.
